The cortex part of the hair, called the cortex, makes up most of the hair shaft. It is the cortex that gives hair its special qualities such as elasticity and curl.
The cortex is packed with strands of keratin, lying along the length of the hair.
The cortex also contains granules of the hair pigment melanin, produced when the hair was growing in its follicle.
The cortex is surrounded by a cuticle and may also have a continuous or discontinuous core or medulla.
The pigment-laden cortex or the hair is formed from closely packed elongated cells that have become keratinized.

Your hair is made up of proteins. Each strand has a cortex at the center.
The cortex is made up of proteins in a chain down the length of the shaft. These proteins (called poly-peptide chains) are held together by peptide bonds which give the hair its strength.
Surrounding the cortex is the medulla, again made of protein fibers and containing the pigment of the hair, giving the hair its color.
Cortex is where you'll also find the side bonds of the hair, which hold the wave pattern of the hair. There are three types of side bond: salt bonds, hydrogen bonds and disulfide bonds. The salt and hydrogen bonds are weaker than the disulfide bonds, but there are more of them, and overall, each of the bond types constitute about a third of the strength of the hair's curl. The disulfide bonds are what get changed in a permanent wave.

A very short crew cut is sometimes referred to as a butch cut or buzz cut.
A long crew cut is referred to as an ivy league crew cut or ivy league.
The crew cut was adopted by the United States armed forces during World War II, and became a civilian平民的 fashion for men throughout the 1950s.

Crop Hairstyle：短髮

The "crop" is similar to the bot cut a hairstyle that became famous in the 1920s.
A crop involves layering and tapering of the hair so it will be closely cut to the head.

Croppy：剪短髮的人

The name "croppy" derives from Ireland in the 1790's as a reference to people with closely cropped hair.
Croppy (sometimes spelt croppie) was a derogatory nickname given to Irish rebels during the period of the 1798 rebellion.
The Croppy Boy refers to the nickname given to the rebels during the United Irishmen Rebellion in 1798.
This nickname was derived from their extreme short hair style. After the Rebellion of 1798 the term croppy, sometimes also written as croppie, became synonym with rebel.
Depending on your facial structure and hair texture you can happily enough go for either a very short croppy hair cut where you don't even have to bother about wet hair or sweaty scalp.

Cross-checking：十字交叉檢查--using vertical sections. Visually check balance and proportion of haircut

Cross-checking is parting the haircut in the opposite way from which you cut it, to check for precision of line and shape. For example, if you use vertical partings in a haircut, cross-check the lengths with horizontal partings. By cross-checking you can make sure you are cutting the hair to the correct lengths.
After cutting and cross-checking, I proceeded to take out my razor-tool and worked my way around the perimeter of the cut to soften the ends of the hair somewhat.
You should not have to remove much hair when you are cross-checking.
The haircut is rushed and the stylist does not have ample time for cross checking and dry cutting, which is when the real transformation happens.

Crown：頂端;頭頂;頭

Crown (highest point of the head), and vertex (immediately posterior to the crown) balding may occur independently of frontal, and is considered less cosmetically important.
The top has been razor cut short to add height around the crown, and the razor cut bangs have been side swept to create a softer look around the face.
Soft layers have been cut around the top to give plenty of lift around the crown, and pretty face framing layers have been added to soften the look around the face.

The hair shaft is made up of dead, hard protein called keratin in three layers. The inner layer is called the medulla and may not be present. The next layer is the cortex and the outer layer is the cuticle.
The cuticle of the hair is the outermost layer. It is composed of a transparent, scale-like single layer of overlapping cells. The function of these overlapping, shingle-like scales is to protect the cortex.
The cuticle is the protective barrier for the cortex and the medulla.
Products with a high pH cause the cuticle layer to swell and allow liquids to penetrate into the cortex.
Products with a low pH will cause the cuticle to shrink and harden.
